WHO AM I?
I am an artisan of words and artifacts. I am a curious person who loves to explore many fields of human knowledge.
I believe that every specialization should always be accompanied by an overall vision that embraces many areas of knowledge, of doing, and of human sensitivity. I believe that this is the key to our going back to be fully human and learning to co-exist with technology, without being (ab-)used by it.
From the beginning, I had no doubts that Surja should be the name of my site and of my activity. Sears ago, during a somewhat special meditation, this name appeared in all her majesty before my eyes. Perhaps the word was not new to me, I have often wondered if it was some unconscious reminiscence, but at that time, I was not used to spiritual readings or the like. In any case, I went and look for the meaning: “Surya” in Sanskrit means “Sun”, from which derives the present subjunctive in Spanish and in Portuguese “Surja”, which means “may I rise”. What better wishes for a site linked to a new job, a new life, a new identity?
Later I realized that Surja Surj presents an assonance with the title of a freedom song in Basque language that I love to sing: Txoria Txori (A bird is a bird):
If I cut off his wings, he’d be mine
He would not flee.
But then it wouldn’t even be a bird anymore
and I loved that bird.
A warning to be who we are and to accept the same freedom for oneself and for others.
